Domaine de Fontsainte makes a Corbieres Rouge, a blend consisting of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah, that delivers huge value in a Rhone style. Dark and earthy, with just enough fruit, this is an awesome food wine.

But the real treat from Fontsainte is their ROSE!

Hands down my favorite pink treat, Fontsainte is a perfect example of what makes French rose the best in the world. If you haven’t worked your way around to trying dry rose, this is the perfect place to start.

Castano Monastrell (or if you prefer the French name, Mourvedre) is a spectacular little value out of the Yecla DO in Spain. Harvested from 30-year-old vines and fermented in 100% stainless steel, this is a balanced little gem with approachable fruit and a rustic charm. The Wine Advocate called it “a wine to buy by the case”, and of course, I agree.

This Southern Rhone blend (primarily Grenache) is one of the wines most responsible for my being in the wine business. A Kermit Lynch selection, it strikes a perfect balance of bright red fruit, garrigue, and earthiness reminiscent of the best that Chateauneuf-du-Pape has to offer, at just a fraction of the price.

The folks at Ste. Michelle in Washington State continue to release vintage after vintage of delicious, high scoring wines from their “Indian Wells” properties. These are perennial favorites of mine, and I’m sure you will love them as well.

Wow, what a great bottle of Chardonnay for the money! I’ve been recommending this wine for months as my favorite Chard under $20 and it seems the folks at Wine Enthusiast are catching up with me. 93 Points!
