Vacation Time…

Greetings,

I will be traveling in Italy for the next week, so there will be no new content, but have no fear, The Wine of the Week UNDER $15 will return October 7th.

I will also (hopefully) have lots of great pictures from my trip through Veneto and the northern reaches of Italian wine country.

See you soon!

Crios Syrah-Bonarda by Susana Balbo - The Wine of the Week UNDER $15

Anyone who discusses wine with me regularly could tell you that Syrah is my favorite grape varietal. This week’s wine is a blend of Syrah and Bonarda from Argentina, making a seductive, dark, easily quaffable example of Susana Balbo’s renound wine-making skill.

The Crios wines have gotten some really outstanding press recently, including 89 Points for the Syrah-Bonarda from Robert Parker, but you don’t care about scores right? This wine is yummy, and you can quote me on that!

Santome Prosecco - The Wine of the Week UNDER $15

This week’s wine is an exciting one for me. I love a good sparkling wine, and I have been in a bit of a rut with it lately. It’s official, Santome Prosecco is now my new favorite everyday sparkling wine.

It is an Extra-Dry Prosecco (check out my new FAQ section for details on dryness levels for sparkling wines), so it is just a bit sweeter than a Brut, and incredibly refreshing. I am almost embarrassed to admit that the bottle was gone before I knew what happened. Try it for yourself and see if you agree with me, this is one outstanding Prosecco!
