The Dow Jones is below 12000, gas prices are above $4, foreclosures are at a record high. Wine is expensive, and that six-pack of Sierra Nevada is looking better and better. Easy there, before you start forgoing the corks for the hops, hear me out.
As a member of the wine industry, I see customers every day looking for the next great value in wine. Whether they typically purchase a $15 bottle and are now looking into the $10 selections, or perhaps just thinking of dialing back from that bottle of Silver Oak to something a bit more reasonable, everyone is looking to get a little more bang for their respective buck.
Here at The Wine Pig, my goal is to enlighten my visitors to the delicious wines that can be had for a fraction of their percieved value. I love to send a bottle of Lirac home with a Chateauneuf lover, or perhaps just a bottle of Prosecco for the Champagne fiend. No matter what your favorite wine is, there is something affordable that you can substitute with great success.
Is the wine industry recession-proof? Obviously only time will tell. But I believe that even the most price conscious wine lover can find satisfaction with a little research, a little experimentation, and just a little help from The Wine Pig.
Salute!
